Mary Renault: What a treasure this woman is! I especially love her books on ancient Greece. She gave me a love of history that I lacked and entertained me at the same time with her sensitive, evocative writing.

Tim Powers: I ran across this author back in the early nineties (The Stress of Her Regard) and immediately recognized him as a class unto himself. It's hard to categorize him, but you could broadly put into the category of speculative fiction with concentration in the magical outre. One of my very favorite authors.
